About Us

Our business helps small to medium sized New Zealand wineries with their annual wine barrel expense. By working closely with owners and winemakers we can provide a barrel leasing solution that best fits the needs and resources of your winery.

We work with all the leading barrel agents and conduct business with over 30 coopers.

The business is managed by Wayne Wade. Wayne has been involved with financing and leasing plant and equipment in the wine industry for over 20 years. Wayne identified a need for a specialised service to assist wineries in meeting their barrel requirements, and started leasing in 2007.

Whether it’s one barrel or one hundred we can provide a barrel leasing solution that is tailored for your winery

Release of capital

Tying up capital that cannot be immediately used to generate revenue puts unnecessary stress on many businesses. Instead of buying barrels upfront, leasing releases cash to be available to meet operating costs.

Synergy

There is a timing gap between paying for barrels and the revenue generated from oaked wine. Leasing spreads out this cost to better profile a winery’s revenue stream.

Cashflow

The leases are for three years which removes lumpy barrel payments. Leasing is a common business tool used for better cash flow management.

Growth Flexibility

Leasing provides a winery with a growth tool to scale up when increased production is required.

Time

We save you time during harvest by attending to all barrel invoices, Customs GST and local freight logistics, including all foreign and NZ currency payments.

Operating Lease

The agreement is an operating lease and the monthly rentals are fully tax deductible.

AFFORDABLE

To find out how affordable our wine barrel leases are, request a no obligation quote.

Please include the number of barrels and size per supplier. e.g. 4 x 228L Supplier A; 1 x 600L Supplier B.

HOW IT WORKS

(This is the easy part!)

  1. 1.

There is no change to how a winery orders its wine barrels.

  2. 2.

The decision on the brand and type of wine barrel is completely up to the winery.

  3. 3.

The winery advises us of its requirements and we take it from there.

  4. 4.

The suppliers then invoice us for the wine barrels, Customs GST, clearance fees and delivery.

  5. 5.

All the wine barrels can be leased or only some of them.

  6. 6.

Even if you have placed an order we can organise a lease with the same supplier and agent.

  7. 7.

This flexibility can provide a balance between paying for the barrels up front and leasing them.
